AWP27 Panel Discussion: Sak Pase? A Tribute to Haitian Poet Laureate Danielle Legros Georges (Chicago, IL)
March 17, 2027 - March 20, 2027
This panel discussion at the 2027 Annual Conference & Bookfair of the Association of Writers & Writing Programs is timely in its cultural alignment with Haitian founder of Chicago, Jean Baptiste Point du Sable. Legros Georges served as Boston Poet Laureate from 2014-2019, and her papers are newly archived at Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America at Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University. These poets, who knew her as fellow poet laureate, member of the Dark Room Collective, and collaborator will discuss her work and opportunities for future scholars. Artress Bethany White will moderate the discussion featuring Tisa Bryant, Rosamond King, Porsha Olayiwola, and Patrick Sylvain.
